MPEG-2 in PowerPoint

Media Player (MP) as opposed to Windows Media Player(WMP)
is the program that PPt hands off the MPEG duties to.

So far I can only get low res MPEG-4 videos to work. I
realise there may be Codecs involved, however my WMP does
play my MPEG files and I wondered that as getting these
files to play in MP is such a chore is there an easy way
to figure out the codecs or changing PPt's mind and using
another program such as WMP or other player.

In my case (PPt 2000) windows XPh 2004, all other players
play my MPEG files just fine. Only the legacy MP
(mplay32.exe) windows player won't play the file, thus
neither will PPt.

I'm getting confused. Are you trying to use MPEG2 or MPEG4 files?
Getting MPEG2 files to play well in PowerPoint is easy with a third party
decoder such as the one at www.elecard.com
MPEG4 is a different bag of monkeys.

My friend who is video guy for weddings told me that
mpeg2 file is that one I need to burn and play slideshow
on regural dvd what is Y opinion

Yes, MPEG 2 is the video format for DVD. There are rules about size and
resolution but your authoring program will take care of that.
MPEG 4 is a type of quicktime or AVI video that can make high quality video
at small file sizes but is the cause of much confusion due to lots of slight
variations of the format (DiVX, mp4 etc.)

Hi Adam, Thanx for the link, I will try it.

I use an Intervideo card and software to convert
VHS/SVHS/TV files to MPEG 1,2, or 4.

I want to insert multiple short MPEG files into a PPt
presentation at high quality. Currently only MPEG4 seems
to work but at a low res (Bit rate).
