MPEG2Player

Simon

I have created a movie in MM2 and saved it as DV-AVI
format.

I have then used Nero to convert this to MPEG2 and burnt
it as a svcd. This plays fine on my main DVD player
attached to the TV but I can not play it on my computer do
I need to get a MPEG2 Player or am i just missing
something?

Thanks in advance
Simon

Hi there,

It seems rather odd. I'm assuming that the machine you created the MPEG2
file on is also the machine that the disc will not play on. Is that right?

If yes, there is one possible answer...the codec that is used to play MPEG2
is not available to software other than Nero. A possible solution to that is
to find that codec and COPY not move, Copy it to your windows/system32
sub-directory. You may also need to register the code after you have done
that...for more guidance on this take a look at www.papajohn.org and the
problem solving page > Acceleration and Codecs might do it.

Playing a normal SVCD on a computer needs specialized software. Maybe
www.DVDRHelp.com is the right place to go for info, and posting on the more
general rec.video.desktop newsgroup.

Hi there,

I thought Nero had a player built in, I must reload it and take a look.

Hi thanks for the quick response.

I found a free MPEG2 player which I have downloaded and that works fine.

Glad about that as the codec stuff on pappajohns site confused the hell out
of me!!
