I can't get an mpeg file to delete; it has a long file name. I've tried
command-line and windows interface. No error message. It just acts like
nothing happens; command-line says it can't find file.

Try this: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/moveonboot.html

" MoveOnBoot allows you to copy, move or delete files on the next system
boot. This comes in very handy, if you need to replace or delete files
which are locked by other applications, loaded into memory or cannot be
changed until next system boot. "
