MP530 vs MP600

I am looking at getting a new printer and these two models both get
very good reviews. As you are likely aware their features sets vary
somewhat.

The MP530 has a fax and document feeder, yet lacks the LCD screen and
media card reader on the MP600. What I am really curious about is the
photo printing and scanning difference between the two. From what I
can see the MP600 has a higher nozzel count and a higher resolution
optical scanner. However, I am curious if anyone has any real world
information on how these two features compare on these two printers.

I don't really care too much about the LCD and media reader, but if the
print quality or scanner is better that is a bigger deal. I think the
FAX and document feeder is just a handy idea more than anything else.
Given the cost difference is $20 that also doesn't really factor in.

Thanks for any input you may have!

The MP600 does in fact have the better printer engine for photos. It would
correspond to the IP4300 printer. I'm not sure if there is still a printer
model that would correspond to the MP530, but it was the IP3xxx line.

Thanks, Dan. Do you know how the MP600 might compare with the MP830?
There is a more significant price difference I know, but just curious.
Thanks!

Canon doesn't list the 830, only an 810. I assume they are similar. The 810
appears to use the same printer engine as the 600.

The 600 seems to get glowing reviews most everywhere and is a good value.
Scanner seems to get some complaints though, but I doubt it's any different
than the 810. I would buy the 600 unless you need the extra gizmos on the
830.

Thanks, Dan. Do you know how the MP600 might compare with the MP830?

Hi Dan. The 830 might just be a Canadian version of the 810 or
something. I know that with the 830 the scanner is a CCD rather than a
CIS so the scanner element is supposed to be better. If the print
engine is the same, then it might be worth the extra cash because of
the scanner. I will have to do some more reading! Thanks for your
input!

The Canon Canada web site doesn't make specific mention of that as a
feature. The MP830 almost seems like a bigger brother to the MP530
from what I can see. The MP810 is a separate printer though as it is
also available in Canada and it's feature set is different from the
MP830.

Actually from what I can see the MP810 is actually not available in
Canada, but the MP830 doesn't seem to be the MP800 replacement. I am
leaning towards the MP600 now.

Yes, unless you need one of the gizmos on the 8xx models, the 600 is the way
to go.

Ah, Canada, do those print on CD/DVD too? (salivating now)

The MP810 sounds nice from what I can read, but it is not listed on the
Canon Canada website which leads me to believe that it is not available
in Canada. Also it is not listed on the FutureShop website and I have
gift cards from there that I want to use! I am right now leaning
heavily towards the MP600, but I appreciate the information.
