mp3's playing too fast

Hi,
My mp3 files are playing too fast. I am using Windows 2000
and have played around with the sound settings in windows
and all various software I have tried using.
Any suggested ways to fix this would be fantastic!

Just MP3 files? Does it happen for all of the file, or does it glitch
shortly into the file?

Have you tried updating the drivers for your soundcard (or motherboard
onboard audio) to the latest ones provided by the manufacturer?
