What, if any, is the difference between MP3 and Mpeg 4.
I have got a NON ipod mp3 and have copied songs from a cd onto it.
The songs won't play. Is it because they are in mpeg 4 format or is this irrelevant?

usually audio is encoded using MP3 and video using MP4.

The tunes will have to be in MP3 format. (the name "MP3 Player" kind of gives it away ;))

Plus you can't just copy CDA files directly from a CD it won't work, you'll need to convert them first to MP3.

I have just discovered that I can convert CDs into mp3 using windows media player :wall: (stop laughing). I have just spent 2 hours (and almost, but not quite £10) looking for a download that would do it, and it was under my nose all along. Thanks for the advice anyway.:thumb:
