MP3 downloading trouble

Hello. I am running Windows XP and IE6. I am now longer able to download
MP3s from websites. Downloading movie files works fine, but when I try to
download an MP3 I get the error that

"Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested
site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later."

My friends have no trouble downloading the music so it's obviously something
on my end but I have no idea what. Any clues?

are you rejecting cookies? check your security settings would be my
guess
