MP3 AlbumArt with .jpg extensions

Many times when I download an mp3, it comes with an AlbumArt file with a .jpg
extension. I have searched my computer, including hidden files, folder,
subfolders, and a word or phrase in the files for the name of AlbumArt and
for *.jpg all files. No searches have produced a result. How can I locate
these files so that I may delete them?

Hey, I found a solution to this. After screwing around with the folde
settings, I proceeded to find out that these files are OS files, thu
harder to remove.

You need to go to tools-folder options-view and uncheck the check bo
which says to "Hide Protected Operating System Files (recommended)".
This will allow you to view and delete the AlbumArt files. Th
associated files should be in the same folders as your music is, or wa
in some cases.

I hope this helps.

Hi brateman, Thanks for responding. I followed your directions for each
folder that I have my mp3's in but no AlbumArt files appeared nor did any
other files appear except the mp3's. I know that I have some because I have
a picture of Mahalia Jackson on some CCR songs. I have Windows XP, Fat 32,
and MediaPlayer 10. Would either or any of them make a difference?

Hi again Brateman3,

Let me correct my previous response. Your suggestion did work. After
rebooting my computer and going into the folders where I store my mp3's, the
albumart files were listed. When I looked into the properties of several
albumart files, I saw that they take up a lot of memory (I have over 15,000
mp3's), so getting rid of them gave me an additional benefit. Thanks very
much!

After using this method of deleting AlbumArt that is encoded into an mp3 for
the past week or so, I found that the AlbumArt reappears after the song is
played and when it's moved to another folder. It's not a permanent deletion.

I also accidentally deleted a system file when deleting album art. This
method needs to be used very carefully.
