Cut / Paste problem..

Michel S.

Hello !

This may seem basic, but it's driving me crazy.

Given a folder on C:\ drive containing music files coming from another
computer. These files are split across many subfolders.

I made a select all / CUT / of all these subfolders and PASTED it in my
MUSIC folder. Everything went fine, all folders were created and files
were moved (including hidden & system : desktop.ini, Albumart, etc..)
in their new location.

The only thing is that the SOURCE folders (now all empty) are still in
their original location.

What am I missing ?

Thanks

I think you will find that when you reboot they will disappear. Not sure why
but I have had the same thing happen to me. Actually it may work if you just
log-off and back on again.

I have the same problem.

It is true with the restarting, but it is not a systemic solution of the
problem.

I would really appreciate if the system I have payed for could enable me
performing such amazing actions like cut/paste operations with folders are.
The day I will be able to do so without restarting before, I will say "WOW"
!!! :)

Hi, Michel. You opened the source folders, cut/paste the files inside.
Right? You did not cut/paste the folders. Right?

Wrong : I *DID* cut/paste the folders.

As did I. "Cut" directories from one hard drive and pasted them to another.
It left a whole bunch of files and a lot of empty directories on the original
drive. I "took ownership" of all directories and tried again. No change.
Logged in as Administrator and no change. The very last thing I need in my
life is another project. Vista's going on the bonfire until SP2

This post applies to Vista Ultimate 32bit running MS Office Ultimate which
was just re-re-re-reinstalled on my custom workstation.

As to the "Wow", I think Microsoft forgot the bow. Bow wow.

Now back to my regularly scheduled reinstallation of XPx64 which plain ol'
just works.
