Mozilla Firefox

Is there any advantage of using Mozilla Firefox over IE as a browser? I
have been told by a couple of sources there are, but they can't tell me what
they are. I have both installed on my desk top and use the Firefox all the
time, but I don't really know what I am accomplishing if anything.
Thanks for any information.

multiple tabbed browser windows. Few if any popups. Google search on
address bar, without all the extras of the Google toolbar. Not the target of
malicious code (yet). Cooler program icon. Download manager.

Actually I personally think Netscape is better, one biggest reason is it
install media player and java along with the browser......

But Netscape is a huge download compared to Firefox, and also contains Mail
and News as well as all the AOL crap......

Thanks folks. That ....** Not the target of.......** was one of the reasons
I was given, and it is the best one. I was a user of Netscape until AOL
came into the picture, and it seemed as if the browser went
downhill....larger file... and sort of took over my computer. Maybe it was
imagination. I like Firefox though. I'll continue to use it.

I do...... :)

The last time (admittedly some time ago) I tried to replace IE as the
system default browser, I had no end of trouble (Win98).

What would I have to do to effectively dump IE in favor of Firefox? Does
the Firefox install include an option to make it the default browser?
And if so, is Windows XP Home going to let that happen without a fight?

I suppose I am dual booting (not fully understanding some of the jargon) I
have both IE6 and FF 9.3 on my desktop as short cuts and can open either one
at will, with no problems using either one (so far). I'm using XP Home Ed.
I have read some info. that people have been having problems of slowness
when going to the FF1.0 I think I'll stay away from that for awhile, or
forever. I'm a believer in "if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it". That
applies to SP2 also.

Where did you read the info that FF1.0 is slower than previous versions?
I haven't experienced this when using it. All versions of FF may be
slower to launch than IE but I haven't noticed version 1.0PR being any
slower than the previous versions.

I think you'd get better answers to your FireFox in here:
sEven though it says Firebird, it's FireFox now.
