Hi, I have windows2000 installed on my C: drive and xp installed on my
D: dive, and have an E: drive for files for storage on my laptop.

I want to install xp on the C: over the existing 2000 install.

I have a nlite iso of XP I made which I may be able to install XP to
the C: drive from.

Can I install XP over 2000 from the unpacked ISO?

It seems trying to install it from the existing XP install, that it
doesn't give me an option to install to the C: drive, only back to the
D: drive.

What I am trying to do is put XP on the C: drive, over the 2000, and
eventually install linux on the D: drive.

I don't have a cd drive or I would just install xp to the C: from
that.

Hope what I am trying to do makes sense and I can do something with
it.

Burn the iso to cd

Back up all data

boot with your XP cd and format the C: drive and perform a fresh install
of XP there
.

philo, OP says he doesn't have a CD drive.

On that note I don't think I can boot from usb to install (tried
enough methods) or I would go that route.

Network install, no go there because of a loose connector.

I am not really in a hurry to do this, I will get another cd\dvd drive
sooner or later. Just trying to make this setup the way I want it and
final.

You cannot change the system drive letter. Read the extensive discussion
under the topic "Unable to change drive letters" that took place in this
newsgroup just 36 hours ago.
