Does anyone know if I can move/transfer the XP O.S. to a different fixed
hard-drive on my system (ie., drive C: to D:) without having to reinstall XP
or my current software? (I have an Me to XP Upgrade so I don't have a
'full-install' disk anyway). I am concerned that the original HD might fail
due to it's age but I have installed a new (internal) 40G HD on my system
that I'm currently using for file storage.
Thanks,
Ron

- Create a clone on a different disk.
- Disconnect the original disk.
- Make the clone disk the primary master.
- Boot the machine.

A good cloning utility for WinXP that is available for a free
30-day trial is Casper XP, downloadable free from
www.FSSdev.com/products/casperxp/ .

After a clone is made, it's important that it boots for its
1st time in isolation from its "parent" OS. Once that has
been done, subsequent boots can be done with the "parent"
visible, and the "parent" will appear as just another
partition with its own file structure, and you can drag/drop
files between the partitions.
