98se to try it out i am bulding a new computer and want
to remove xp and reinstall win.98 on the old one and
install xp on the new one.is this going to create a
problem with activation on the new system ?

Hi Ed,

No, it's not, as long as this is a retail version of WindowsXP. If it has
been more than 120 days since you originally activated it, you will probably
be able to activate over the 'net automatically, just like the first time.
At worst, you will need to call in activation. Either way, it's still
allowed.

As long as it was a retail and not one of the OEM' copies that are
licensed solely to the machine where first installed, there is no
problem. Remove from the old machine, then install on the second one.
When it comes to activation, you may find it will go through on the net
anyway - if more than 120 days since you last did it certainly will. If
not, you will have to phone a toll-free number that will be given, to
explain and swap one long number for another to check back as you type
it in
