Moving Installed programs between Windows instances

Hi there. I've installed WIN XP Pro for my father from a Genuine Advantage
Kit recently and it installed a new Instance of Win XP on the drive. Is
there a easy or clean way to transfer over all the installed programs from
onw Win instance to the other. For the record, the first Win instance is
called WINDOWS and the second is called WINDO06.

I thought there must be a way, since theoretically all of the programs
already exist on the hard drive, they just need to point in the right
direction. I thought I would just be able to rename folders, but no luck.

I have the disk for Win XP here. Would it be easier to have repaired the
inital instance for Win XP so that it became genuine?

Thanks for any help you can point me to!

Part 2 - I've gone into the past messages and found one that says I didn't
have to re-install Win XP, just update the key. Now, I've installed the new
Win with the new key already. Can I go back to my original Win XP install
and just update the key with the new one? That would save a lot of headache!
Thanks!

If you rename wpa.dbl in the system folder, it will require re-activation.
You can enter the new key on the "Phona a representative" screen.

Proviso is that this will only work if the pirate copy is the same type. May
pirate copies are corporate versions, and these will only work with a
corporate key, not an OEM one.

Thank you Ian. I actually wound up on the phone with a tech (after one false
start) and she helped me immensely, but I am going to hold on to your
information just in case I have any further problems down the road.
