I am moving a HD with W2k to a new MB.

The HD was serup with an AMI Bios on the old MB.

The new MB has an Award Bios.

Is there a way to make the transfer without having to do
a complete format and install due to a Bios conflict ?

With my fingers crossed,
Arnold Packer

Bios is not a problem. Before you use the HD in the new MB make sure you go
into bios setting and see if the auto HD detection can find your new HD.

The last time I did this it went smoothly because I moved video and PCI cards from the old motherboard to the new motherboard so I didn't have to install any new drivers. It found new hardware devices, which were the new IDE ports etc., and automatically installed drives for them.

If you change the motherboard that has been used with a given harddrive
containing an OS, then you MUST reformat the harddrive and do a fresh
install of the OS. Otherwise you face ongoing Registry errors and ongoing
data corruption.

incorrect
