Installing new HD, pls help

I have 3 IDE Hard Drives now and my system works fine. I am adding one more
ATA Hard Drive. In BIOS if I enable or disable ATA ( which one should be?),
when computer starts in both cases I can see on black screen (before Windows
kick in) that name of new HD appears.
When windows completely start, my computer doesn't see this HD.
I want this ATA HD to be just storage. My K8V Asus MB has 4 plugs for SATA:
SATA1
SATA2
PRI_SATA
SEC_SATA
Which one should I use? I try all of them.

In BIOS, what should be?:
RAID or Onboard IDE controller.

I try all combinations, but in windows I still can't see this new ATA HD.
What could I do wrong?
I'd very appreciate suggestions how to solve it.

HD has data plug, power plug and some another one. What is that? Jumpers?
Rigth now I have nothing connected there. Should be something there pluged
in?

Maybe you need a driver for the hardware which is hosting the new
SATA drive ? Whether using the Promise 20376 RAID or the VT8237 SATA,
you'd need a driver. I would try the SATA1 or SATA2 connector, as I think
they're connected to the VT8237. Then you'd need a VT8237 driver (check the
motherboard CD).

Once the driver is installed, and you reboot, then check Disk Management
again, to see if something shows up.

As far as I know, if a single SATA drive is connected to VT8237, and
no attempt is made to configure it as a RAID array, it will show
up as a single drive. You'll find out soon enough.

Right click MY COMPUTER -> Manage -> Disk Management

The right side of the window will show all your hard drives. There will be
one that needs to be partitioned and formatted.

Hi Jazu

Assuming you are using XP (a dangerous assumption - I know) go to the
control panel and find an icon named 'Administrative Tools' and then click
on 'Computer Management'. Once there, navigate down to 'Storage' and click
on 'Disk Management'.
When the window appears, confirm that the new drive is showing up on the
window.

If it's there, then you simply need to format it and it will be ready for
use. If it's not there, then we need to do a little more looking.

As I said above , this assumes you're using XP. All MS products since ME
have included some sort of disk manager, although the path to find them may
not be quite the same. You'll have to look around depending which version
you are using. (BTW, if you're using Linux - you're on your own... It's a
good system, but I haven't got a clue where to start with that one !! ; )

I HAD to load SATA drivers on a K8V before Windows would see
it...........regardless of what the eggspurts had to say.

they are on the MoBo's support CD.

Is your HD as slave?
Do you have jumper on it. Accually there is note on my HD that jumper is not
required. (so why HD has jumper pins?)
Where did you plug in HD to MoBo? SATA1, SATA2, PRI_SATA or SEC_SATA?
Did you switch in BIOS th RAID?

A SATA drive has a data connector and a power connector. You probably
see those already.

There can be some additional pins. They take a jumper, and the jumper
may be installed if you wish to force operation at 1.5Gbit/sec,
instead of 3.0Gbit/sec. While drives can autonegotiate connect
rate, sometimes they need help in the form of the jumper.
