Moving folders to new hard drive.

I'm running out of room on my C drive. I bought a 160G external hard drive
for pictures, music, videos. When moving folders to the new drive, those
same folders still exist on the old drive. I thought the folder would be
moved, not copied and moved. If I delete the folder on the old drive will
the new folder on the new drive still be accessible? My concern is that the
folders I want to move contain software programs for my digital camera and
I'm afraid that I will corrupt a file or somehow be unable to use the
program. Thanks for any suggestions or ideas.

To be safe just move the pictures and data files only, leave the rest
where it is. If these files are in your profile folder or "My
Documents" the folder cannot be deleted or simply moved like any other
folder.

Hi JoeC,

Where are the files located on the old drive? They should not be located
along with the application files.

By default files are copied when dragged from drive or partition to another.
To move files or folder to another drive or partition in one step, right
click and drag, then select Move.

To add, you can rarely move Programs, because the associations to registry
entries and other files will be broken.
In your specific case, you cannot move programs for your digital camera
