Hello,

We have a Compaq server that has failed. It has has a mirrored drive
array. Is it possible to move one of the mirrored drives to another
Windows 2000 server and be able to read the data on that mirrored drive
so it can be recovered? Any hints or advice is welcome.

Thanks,
Rod

How was it mirrored? If it was mirrored using the operating system, the
answer is probably yes. If it was mirrored using the drive controller, it
may possibly require a machine with the same type of drive controller.

Best to ask Compaq this question with the technical details of the server at
hand.

It really does depend on the controller. I have never had issue with moving
around mirrored disc drives.

I suggest that if you have doubts and want to proceed safely, use a disc
drive imaging utility to copy the entire disc to a new one and place that in
your new server and take a look at this copy. This way it leaves you with
the old system completely preserved and a regression path.

If it is an Array as you say - IE more then one HDD on each side of the
mirror, then I really would head off to Compaq / HP and ask first.
