MovieMaker Crashes between Timeline & Storyboard

I am getting so frustrated in this movie to DVD thing. I bought everything I
need to create my children's home movies to DVD for Christmas gifts. I have
only had success with 2 DVD's so far.

My 2 successful DVD's were on Studio 8, but now have off and on problems
with that software. I can have 8 different video clips to import and it hit
and misses with transferring them into Studio 8, One might transfer just
fine - the others do not. All videos are there and work - I can view them in
other programs.

So with all of the trouble I thought I would try Windows MovieMaker and
Sonic MyDVD. I tried the same movie that I was trying to get to work in
Studio 8. Everything was transferring over fine and then all of a sudden on
the last transfer it was very very slow and then it started crashing. "Movie
Maker has encountered a problem and needs to close" Now when I go in to
reopen it under a saved project - it opens fine, but then I switch it from
Timeline to Storyboard view I get the same above message. I have about 55
minutes of video. I can't even get into it to edit what I have transferred
so far.

I was reading some yesterday and one thing I read to do was change the
hardware acceleration to 3, which I did and still no improvement.

I have a Dell 2400 Dimension 256 MB Memory (ram) 74.47 GB Hard Drive with
21.74 GB used and 52.72 GB free with Windows XP Home Edition, Service Pack
2.0, Sonic MyDVD Version 5, Windows Movie Maker and ADS Tech DVD Express (to
capture VHS to computer)

Any suggestions?
