MovieMaker 2.0 & codec problems

When using the MovieMaker 2.0 I get the movies to play
from the camera Sony TRV730, I can record the movie but
when I try to save the clip to file I get a codec error
and the program dumps the clip. What I am I doing wrong?
I have some clips I've made that are on file from Roxio
VideoWave and they play with no problem. Please Help!

Try Windows Media Encoder, it's much more powerful.
