movie sound

ive got the hang of recording sound to go over the clips ive put together, but can anyone tell me how to get rid of the original sound from the clips. im getting both sounds coming through on top of eachother and it sounds like a mess.

Certainly. Make sure you're in the timeline view (use the View...Timeline
menu option if the storyboard is visible). You may find it easier if you can
also see the audio track associated with the video, if the Video option on
the left of the timeline has a + sign to the right of it, click the + sign
to expand the view to see the audio associated with the video. With the clip
selected from which you wish to remove the sound, select Clip...Audio...Mute
from the menu (you should see the audio waveform move to a flat line when
you do this).
