Movie Maker lost sound

The computer is capturing the video and sound. The video
is playing on the movie maker....Then when finished the
computer transfers data to a file. The sound is lost when
playing clips or transfering to the storyline.. no sound
from my home movie.. Transitions and titels can be put in
etc...
I can play the sample microsoft movie and there is sound..
Must be something not entered in the properties..
Can you help
