Movie Maker 2 hangs up frequently

Ben

At various times in the process of editing clips together
into a movie, MM2 will hang up. A great pity, becouse XP
is otherwise a satisfactorily stable environment.

The trigger is not yet clear, but seems to be associated
with the mode change from playing part or all of the
embryo movie to playing one of the clips individually.
The fault occurred eight times in a 5-hour session, but
does not repeat reliably on demand. Do they ever?

Task Manager then reports Zero activity from MM2, and will
end the process cleanly - so the workaround is to save
often, restart MM2, reload the last save, and carry on.

System:
WinXP Home fully updated, running on a Pentium 4 2.53GHz,
512MB DDR RAM, 120GB HDD partioned 60/60, GeForce MX460
64MB video

Ben,
I've had this problem as well, and I found what the
problem is(at least on mine). I suppose since you have
such a large hard drive, your not running out of
temporary storage(in MM2, Tools>Options, temp. storage)
on the disk... sometimes that can cause this to hang.
What helped me is saving every 10 minutes and Saving the
Auto Recover info every 1 minute(tools>options> auto
recover). I dont know why it hangs when you dont save it,
but it stopped my hanging, and it sounds just like your
problem(playing only one clip). Hope this helps.
