movie file usenet downloads attachment problem

mpg and avi files do not appear as attachments when downloaded from UseNet.
I am using Vista for Business 32 bit. They appear inline in the message as
binary data. Another individual reported this same problem (see below).
There was no response to this other inquiry that can be found here

How can I fix this so that the data appears as an attachment and not inline
binary data.
I have Windows Vista and Windows Mail and I am trying to download the
movie
files from the newsgroups section and when I open the file all I get is
some
sort of message that has a bunch of scribbly letters and numbers but no
attachment with the file. I used to have Outlook Express and had no
problem
opening up these movie files. Maybe I don't have my settings correct? My
default player is Windows Player 11 Any help would be appreciated
This is a sample of what I get when I open the file

M`&X`+0!G`&(```!=B_$FA$7L1Y]?#F4?!%+)&@`````````"`>K+^,6O6W=(
MA&>JC$3Z3,K8``````````0````!``P``@`"````20!S`%8`0@!2````````
M``$`-`````8```!$`&4`=@!I`&,`90!#`&\`;@!F`&\`<@!M`&$`;@!C`&4`
M5`!E`&T`<`!L`&$`=`!E````3``Q```````"``P``@`"````20!S`%8`0@!2

No attachments at all.

You need a different news reader, or a program like BinaryBoy, which
downloads binary files from USENET.

Movie files are usually split apart into several files numbered (1/10),
(2/10), ... (10/10). Download ALL parts, select them all, and click Message
| Combine and Decode.

Vista Mail should handle this, as does Outlook Express, so I don't know why
I'd need any other software to combine & decode wmv or mpg attachments in
the Vista Mail newsreader. The suggestion to download all parts or select
all the parts to combine & decode doesn't work, since the reader shows
no paperclip attachment to download.

Let me clarify, that when I look at the header list, I see nothing in the
attachment column and when I view an item there is no paperclip signifying
an attachment; and in the view pain is the binary data that I would expect
to be be the contents of an attachment.

Something is wrong, since the newsreader is rendering any attachment as an
inline binary and is not representing it as an attachment.

Lastly, I assume that for most, Vista Mail's newsreader can download mpeg,
wmv files that are paperclipped attachments and that do not appear as inline
binaries. So, what's different about my installation? It's a new HP laptop
running Vista Business Edition...nothing really special about it---the OS
came installed by HP, so I'm non-plussed by this.
