movie clips in pp slides

When I import an avi movie clip into a pp slide it looks ok, but when
I go into slide-show mode it plays the audio but the screen becomes
all black. I am using pp 2003 on a win xp computer. Any help would
be appreciated.

Try moving the presentation to a folder with a short path. (Examples
C:\test) Move the video file to the same folder. Delete the video from the
presentation and reinsert it. Does that cure the problem?

Hi Yon,

I agree with Austin Myers, moving the presentation and video to a same
folder.

BTW, did you inserst the video and music simultaneously on one slide
or insert two video file s to one slide? This will cause to no picture
when playing the video in PowerPoint slide show.

Austin, I am sorry to say that your suggestion doesn't work.
Actually, I first observed this on presentations that haven't been
saved yet, but it makes no difference whether or where it's saved.

Phtar, the sound is part of the avi movie clip. Only one file is
imported.

Hi Yon,

I'm sorry that the method isn't work for you. It maybe because there
isn't the proper codec on your computer. Try to download and install
some new codec from official: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/format/codecdownload.aspx.
Go for codec references at: http://www.codecguide.com/

Hope this helps.

I am sure the right codec is there since the avi file plays ok in
Media Player and other programs. Yon

Following a suggestion that I found in another thread I simply renamed
the movie clip to have an mpg filetype (instead of avi) and now it
works like a charm.
