mouse 'working in background' icon --- change to nothing, possible?

Dave Horne

Is it possible the have that blue Aero circle disappear completley when
Windows is 'working in background'?

As it stands now, every few seconds that blue circle appears next to the
mouse cursor indicating that Windows is working in the background - I'd just
as soon not be constantly informed. I've looked at the 'Mouse' settings and
if a possibility exists to have 'nothing' indicated when Windows is 'working
in the background', I couldn't figure out what to do.

Thanks, DH

DH,

That sure isn't normal every few seconds, you should be glad the blue circle
is there and telling you something. You have something running my friend and
I'd try to find out what. With no apps running on your desktop, open Task
Manager and see if something is there. If not start looking under the
Processes tab and list what is running.

WOW, that's a lot.
Go here and download AutoRuns V9.10
Once installed right click the shortcut and select Run as Administrator
Once it opens select the Services tab
Some of these you my recognize, so just ignore them.
For the others right click each one and select Search Online

This will tell you what they are, anything suspicious just uncheck it and
reboot your system. If the cursor stops working in background you have found
your problem. This will take some time and I suggest writing down each one
you try. BTW, before trying any of the above, have you tried disabling items
in Msconfig?

You can do this as well with AutoRuns on the Logon tab.

Leave these be....
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Userinit
C:\Windows\system32\userinit.exeUserinit Logon Application Microsoft
Corporation c:\windows\system32\userinit.exe

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Shell
explorer.exeWindows Explorer Microsoft Corporation c:\windows\explorer.exe

Everything else I'd uncheck and reboot. If the cursor stops working in
background, one by one recheck them and reboot. If it starts working again
you know the last item you checked is the problem.
