Mouse won't work on PS2 port

Logitech MX1000 Laser Mouse (Cordless).
HP Media Center m280n PC.
Windows XP SP2.

Installed latest version of the Setpoint software - PC does not recognize
mouse on bootup when plugged into the PS2 port (no mouse pointer movement),
but works fine when plugged into the USB port. Previous mouse was a Logitech
MX300 plugged into the PS2 port which worked fine. The MX1000 works fine on
2 other computers when plugged into the PS2 port. Logitech technical support
doesn't know what the problem is. Can anyone shed some light on this
problem?

You could try resetting your BIOS. I did a BIOS upgrade and nothing I did
would make the mouse work.

Was a known issue, but not by me :) I reset the BIOS and the mouse worked
fine.

Took me a long time to undo the mess I make figuring it out.
