mouse wheel problem

i have a dell computer and one of their mouses that came with it. i recently
got a *virus* or some trojens and i believe to have gotten rid of them using
mcaffe and ad-aware SE personal. after i got rid of the trojens i did a
system restore and now the scroll wheel on my mouse doesn't work. i'm
wondering if its a file coruption or just a hardware failure. (also from time
to time the scroll wheel will work but the scrolling will jump randomly
sliding (moving) the page up and down eradicaly. any help with this would be
must wonderful.

Hi Chevere.

It looks like you've got 'virtual scrollin enabled, I think and on a laptop.
Turn it off via start>control panel>mouse>touchpad on/off, hilight your
mouse, hit settings hit Virtual scrolling and uncheck the box'es.

Check your mouse entry in the Device Manager. Within it may be a tab with
mouse settings (if you are using PS/2) that controls detection of Scroll
Wheel support. Make sure that the scroll wheel detection is enabled.
