I'm using Win 2000 Professional SP3. The mouse quit working. I've tried
using the mouse port and the USB port ( with adapter) without success. The
mouse is not listed in the Device Manager and no hardware is listed on the
Mouse in the Control Panel. How can I get my mouse to come back?

Thanks,
BR

i have found a little bit of cheese stuffed in the port helps. failing
that, stuff a credit card number in a web page and buy a new one.

Dave,

It's not the mouse. I'm using a new mouse that functions on any other CPU.
I can't get any mouse to work. What about the mouse not showing in the
device manager?

Try booting in safe mode, go to add\remove hardware
remove any reference to "Mouse"
reboot back into normal mode and see what happens/

(I like the cheese answer though)

If you got software with the mouse install the drivers. If not and using the
PS/2 port go into add/remove hardware and tell Windows to detect new
hardware.

If using USB reinstall the USB drivers then reattach the mouse.

Hi,

Your PS2 mouse port may have failed. I have had this happen before.
Use the USB instead.

Cheers,
