The scandisk is a red herring. Why did you do the scandisk? Your hardware
drivers got messed up somehow. A bad disk could easily cause that. Did you
suspect a bad hard disk? Is that why you ran the scandisk? What did the
scandisk show? Is your hard drive OK?

If you have no reason to believe that the hard drive is bad, try
reinstalling the chipset drivers for your motherboard. Get the latest
drivers from the web site of whoever manufactured your motherboard. -Dave

Yes it said the hard drive is o.k.I will try the chipset drivers and see
if that works Thanks.

In all likelyhood, your mouse is nearing the
end of it's natural life, despite the safe mode
observation. Another long-shot possibility I
could think of is that you installed something
funny that's somehow interfering with it's
operation, very unlikely though. Check if anything new
is starting up on Window startup both in the StartUp folder
and in the Run folder in the registry. I would also try re-plugging
in the mouse while the computer is off.

Anyway, you'll probably end up getting a new mouse.
I recommend Logitech's.
