mouse lock-ups

Hi, I recently got hold of a Battlefield 2 demo and its subsequent
nVidia driver card update. Installed the game, everything running
fine, just a frame rate drop in high density areas (my card is the 128
fx5200, not supposed to be compatible!).
Decided to try overclocking and confidently upped the FSB to 180
(360MHz) but kept the RAM settings as standard. Now, game runs better
though there are occasional mouse lockups. I know of mouse AND
keyboard complete shut downs but not tempremental. I have a really
bad driver problem for an OEM DVD player and CD-RW(?) and I have
always had memory problems with all the stuff I have installed.

Some specs and things i’ve played with:
-SiSoft Sandra Pro
-CPU-Z
-HD bench tools

Athlon XP 2800+ Barton
MSI K7N2 (nVidia nForce 2) BIOS - Phoenix
1.664v to CPU
Core Speed :2255.1 MHz, multiplier x12.5 (standard)
SATA 120 :SMART enabled + partitioned with windows A, Progs B:
IDE 60 :cable poor quality, no programs installed though:
1G RAM :333 (2700 i think), latency standard + 2G virtual RAM via SATA
GeForce fx5200 128Mb standard
CPU temp during high bandwidth programs 45-55, otherwise 35
Thermaltake style case maintains 35-45 at CPU fan

The driver I installed with the game was not supposed to be for my
card, though most nVidia drivers are bundled together so i’m told.
Counter-Strike runs faster without this driver.

any ideas?

You're overclocked and unsupported, and you're biggest problem is mouse
freeze? Sheesh!

Mouse sometimes works again if you re-plug it, worth a try before rebooting.

Check temperatures, tweak memory timings, try different driver versions
- i.e. just piss around logically to see what helps. Change one thing at
a time, keep notes.
