Mouse hover too short

Someone, or something, has changed mouse hover time such that clicking on
start and sliding quickly up to My Computer, if the mouse pointer passes over
"All Programs", All Programs opens up.

How can I increase the time before hover is recognised. It isn't in
Conntrol Panel Mouse, or in TweakUI.

That's bad, sudden changes to settings should be investigated. There's a couple of worms called W32/Dioxin.B and W97M.Durlen that
change these settings among other things (they are real doozies!) Look for the files Dioxin.exe and WinDio778.exe.

It should be. There should be a Mouse branch in the left pane which has a Hover sub-branch. Are you sure it's not there? Did you
try closing TweakUI and running it again; sometimes I find that the TweakUI tree is mangled when it runs (no clue why).

If you can't get the Hover options in TweakUI (even more reason to investigate), then you can set the registry entries manually
(you'll probably have to reboot or log off/on for them to take effect).

In the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse] key you should set these:

MouseHoverTime : REG_SZ : hover time in milliseconds : 400 default
MouseHoverWidth : REG_SZ : hover width in pixels * 2 : 4 default (2 pixels)
MouseHoverHeight : REG_SZ : hover height in pixels * 2 : 4 default (2 pixels)

Those are the ones that TweakUI changes.

Thanks, Alec.
After posting, I downloaded latest Powertoys TweakUI and it is there. The
other most have been an older version.

BTW how do I uninstall TweakUI? It isn't in Add/Remove.

It depends on how it got into the Control Panel. If you installed it, it should be present, if you merely copied the file to
System32, it won't be. Plus, there's always damage, corruption, accidents, "cleaner" apps, and stuff that could remove it.
