mouse driver setting

When I change the wheel scroll setting in xp's mouse
driver from 1 line to 2,3, etc. it will keep that setting
the remainder of the day. But when I boot up the next
time the setting reverts back to 1 line. I'm using a
notebook computer with a Targus corded mini mouse. Any
solutions, or am I not doing something right?

Did you install any special software that came with your mouse? This sort of
setting would be handled there.
 
No. The mouse did not come with any driver software. XP
did recognize it though.
