How to change the normal operation of the mouse from
double click to single click?
 
WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION/PROFESSIONAL
(If you didn't adjust standard XP start menu.)
Start > My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > "Click
items as follows" heading > Choose "Single-click to open
an item (point to select)".

I'm sure it's the same for other operating systems as
well.
 
You can do it in the control panel too, open the mouse folder, all the information is
there.
