Mouse click reactions take 2 minutes

After installing and deinstalling a 3GB game my Windows XP behaves odd:
After a mouse click it takes 2 minutes until the click causes a reaction.
Also the explorer task has a tendency to crash.

What and why is this?
What can I do to restore my system to a functional state?

The game's support has nothing to do with it.

If the mouse worked correctly before the game install and didn't work after
the install or removal, unless there was some other failure, the game is the
responsible party and their tech support should be able to help.

Click start>Programs>Accessories>System tools>System Restore> put it back in
time(settings-wise) to before the problem.

Have you tried the obvious? System Restore to an earlier date before you
installed the game.
