Mouse and Programs disappearing offscreen

I can drag my mouse along the left side of my screen and you can see
it until it gets half way up the screen and then it disappears
somewhere off to the left like it fell through a hole. The problem is
that sometimes I can open a program and it goes over there too.
Completely off the screen. The screen is sized correctly for the
monitor but it still happens. I have installed the latest video
driver but no difference. I am using Windows XP Pro and it is
completely up to date. A lot of programs disappear thru this "Hole".
Sometimes I can move the mouse over there and miraculously drag the
program back to the right where I can see it. The border of the
screen is fine until it gets about half way up then it goes away. I
have to reboot to solve this problem but then it will start again.
Any ideas?

seems to me like you have 2 display adaptors working, yet you have only one
monitor. Look at the display settings if you have a second display adaptor
and disable the extended desktop on that one.

Kenny,

That took care of the problem. I should have thought of that myself
but I was just drawing a blank. I put a video card in a computer with
built in video and the Intel 82810 display driver and didn't disable
it. Thanks for the tip.

Happy to help....

If you have a second monitor (or you may buy one) you might consider using
the 2nd display adaptor and having a computer with 2 screens and a larger
extended desktop.
I have found that such a setup increases productivity and ease of use.
