Motion Backgrounds

Is there a way to have a movie or video clip playing as background to text in
the foreground. I am wanting the video to be the size of the slide and the
text to work as normal over the top of the clip.

Unfortunately, video always plays on top in PowerPoint.

So why do many companies offer motion backgrounds for powerpoint? I have
several, but can't seem to get them to work.

I wonder if these are animated GIFs rather than videos. If that is the case,
try inserting them as pictures (Insert > Picture > From File) instead of as
movies (Insert > Movies and Sounds).

already tried that...i noticed that you could buy a plugin program from
crystalgraphics, but is there anything free?

As far as I know, these are commercial add-ins for PowerPoint and cannot be
had for free, but someone else might know of something free. I assume you
have to buy the add-in to get the "motion background" to work, and that is
why the ones you have won't work. But we are now venturing beyond my
expertise, so someone else can probably give you better answers.
