Motherboard usb connectors

Hi all, a question which I need to know the answer to before I
possibly do damage to my mobo or usb peripherals, particularly card
readers

The connector leads are in the following order red, white, green,
black on both my internal card reader AND front connector case leads.
A diagram with my internal reader says that red = +5v, white = -DATA,
green = +Data, black = GND. This order of pins is the same on my mobo
(Asus A7V8X-X). the lead to the front sockets on my computer case has
the green and white leads reversed on the mobo connectors. So far I
have successfully used USB peripherals connected to the front sockets.

Does anyone know if the data + & - inputs can be reverse connected
with impunity? What will happen if the Input and output leads are
reversed?

Thanks in advance

Ant

Try the Asus news group.Better specific info there I suspect.

No hard damage, just won't work.
