Ummmm... if they don't fit, then it would be safe to assume that it's
the WRONG FREAKING MEMORY FOR YOUR COMPUTER!

Christ!

sodimm = 144 pin
dimm = 168 pin
ddr = 184 pin
so count away and figure out what you got

PC100 and PC133 are dimensionally identical, so it would
seem that at least one of the following is true:

A) Your system doesn't use PC100 OR PC133 memory.

B) That supposed "PC133" memory you have isn't actually
(PC133) or is a notebook "SO" module which is MUCH shorter
in length... about 40 mm shorter as a rough guess

C) Your motherboard might be one of those with both DDR and
PC133 banks, like an ECS K7S5A or some of the Via KM266
based boards, and while it does have PC100 in it already,
you're trying to put the PC133 in a DDR slot. DDR and PC133
memory are the same length, but have notches in different
places so either won't fully seat in a slot for the other
type. When it won't seat, the end latches can't both
lock... maybe one could be both can't unless you pushed very
hard and bent the motherboard (which would probably damage
it).

Take your PC100 memory out and compare it to the new module.

Well-said, but a little more info:

SODIMM: laptop memory, much shorter than the DIMM slot.
DIMM -- the usual format for PC66, PC100 and PC133 -- one rounded notch in
the middle but slightly off-center so you can't put it in backwards. Have
you tried turning the stick the opposite direction?
DDR -- the usual format for PC266 and faster -- two notches, one slightly
off-center, the other near one end.

As has been said, don't force it! Handle it carefully and take it back if
it doesn't fit.

Woo! go the ECS k7s5a it is a pwnzor mobo. My friend used to have it
for liek 2 years and then chucked it out, io scavenged it, chucked
som extra components on it (e.g ram GF4 CPU etc) and huzzah! it works
and is nice and stable :D.

You're lucky, even the ones that start out working properly
seem to like to self-destruct after a year or two.
