Most websites won't work

On and off the last couple of days, most websites will not work, connection
to the internet is fine
Alot of people i know having the same problem
Called ISP and they know of no problems
Reset my cable modem a couple of times seemed to help
Windows updates was about 3 days ago
any ideas?

sorry i'm new to this
been on a few times before and have had good responses
we all have done a bit to try to resolve this
deleted temp int files, cookies, history, and manually off the C drive
virus scan is up to date, ran spyware, adware and checked the registry under
run directory to make sure there wasn't anything there, also checked
processes running all looked fine
just wondering if there was anything else you guys/gals could help me with

Which version of Windows? If XP, is it XP SP2? Are some sites
loading/displaying properly? On the others, is there any attempt to display
the page? Any error message?
