Most Recently Used Files List and TweakUI for XP

I sent the following to the Microsoft.public.word.general group, but
that group seems a bit inactive. Since this involves XP, hopefully I
can find an answer here. I'm using MS Word (Office 2003) and my
Recently Used Files List ismissing. I also am using TweakUI I
downloaded from PowerToys for XP.The 'popular' fix seems to be going
to TweakUI > Internet Explorer > and checking the recently used files
on start menu. I've tried this, I think. First, my newer version of
TweakUI doesn't have this option under 'Internet Explorer', but
instead, it is under 'Explorer'. I have checked that box, rebooted the
computer and still the option is missing in MS Word 2003. Is there a
registry fix that will allow me to get that option back? I couldn't
find any reference to the word 'recently' in Kelly's Corner page,
either. I know this has been addressed here before, but the solution
doesn't seem to fix the problem for me. Thanks in advance. :)

As always... I post and then find the answer. The TweakUI settings in
the PowerToys for XP version of TweakUI apparently is a bit different
in this area. Under the 'Explorer' section, the only box that needs to
be checked is 'maintain document history'. The 'allow recent documents
on start menu,is just that. It controls whether you will see the My
Documents option on the actual Start Menu.

MS Word | Tools | Options | General tab |
Select or clear the Recently used file list check box.
When the Recently used file list check box is selected, you can specify the
number of recently used files that appear on the File menu.

To show your most recently used documents on the Start menu
1 Right-click the Start button, and then click Properties.
2 On the Start Menu tab, click Start menu, and then click Customize.
3 On the Advanced tab, select the List my most recently opened documents
check box.
The next time you click Start, the My Recent Documents folder is on the
Start menu. This folder contains the documents and files you opened
recently.

Wesley, thanks for the reply. It seems that the PowerToys for XP made
some changes. I finally figured out the problem... after posting to
the newsgroup. Hey, I'm old. LOL
