Most Contacts don't sync with Motorola Q

I have a new Q, Outlook Connector, Outlook 2003 SP2, Active Sync 4.1 (and
tried 4.2). At some point, the majority of my 600+ contacts were updates
with "asian characters" in the date field for anniversary. In those same
contacts, the nickname field is also filled in with nicknames that could be
appropriate for the specific contact. These contacts will not sync with my
Q.

I have deleted all of the contacts and imported a fresh file (back-up of my
contacts) and can see that all of the anniversary dates are clean (there
isn't a date in the field) and the Nickname is also blank. Then at some
point, I believe when it is updating with the Outlook Connector, the majority
of the Contact get a corrupted Anniversary date field and unsolicitated
Nicknames.

If I manually select "None" for the date, the contact synchs with my Q. But
then it gets corrupted again, and if I make any edits to that specific
contact, it won't synch again.

Kim,
I have a Dell AXIM X51v and have had this same problem. I am still under
Dell service warranty and they were no help at all. Hopefully with Outlook
2007 release right around the corner that will fix the problem.

Mike

After my original posting I contacted MS and after about a week, I got a
support person that said it was a known bug and he didn't know when they
would produce a hot fix. Just a couple of weeks ago, I was on the Verizon
site and it had a posting about people having issues synching Contactsthat
said to take off Microsoft Works...???? Seemed wierd but I did it. I then
noticed that everything was synching. The issue is that I don't know if it
actually starting synching before I unistalled Works or not...I have just
assumed for months that it wasn't working. Anyway, besides that I still have
corrupted anniversary dates, everything is finally working well.
