More Windows XP Sound Schemes

One of the things I really liked about Windows 98 were the different sound
schemes, and how you could set whatever sound you wanted to a certain action.

If you didn't like a sound you could change it.
Does anyone know where where I can get more sound schemes than just the
default Windows XP sounds?

Going into Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices, etc.... doesn't work. The
only sound scheme there is the Windows XP Default sounds.

By the way... what does the XP stand for?

I think you did the right thing, click on "sounds" tab and click on one
specific program event and choose a sound file.

You could also install "Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP SuperPack", the
product contain some more Windows themes, include sound scheme.

XP stands for eXPerience. Microsoft wants their users to have best
eXPeriences in the digital era, with Windows XP and Office XP.

Yes, if use "plus for Windows XP", first need to buy :).

But I think to directly specifiy sound files to program events at "Sound and
Audio Properties" - "Sound" tab will work.

I guess he just tried to find existing sound schemes, but never tried to
specify files to program events.

I can do all of that. I can change the sounds around. But the ONLY
sounds I can SELECT FROM are the Windows XP default sounds. I want different
sounds, not to just switch around the sounds I already have available.

When you highlight a sound such as "close program" you should see a "Browse"
button on the bottom right of the window... click on it and search for the
sound that you want to use. It has to be a .wav file, but you can use any
..wav file that is on your computer.
