I bought Vista when it first came out. I lost programs, like I. E. I messed
with it for a couple of days, then reloaded XP.
I bought a new Gateway two days ago. It came with Vista Premium. Now I
have Vista again.
I hooked up my new computer. I began loading some of my programs. They
didn't all load flawlessly, but they loaded.
I went to bed and when I got up in the morning, no Internet Explorer. Gonzo.
I did a system restore back to the very beginning.
I loaded all of my programs and replaced my files.
I have a new Maxtor OneTouch III backup unit. I loaded the software and
hooked up the unit. When I went back to set up the unit, Vista told me that
there’s no unit selected.
I disconnected the unit and uninstalled the software.
I reinstalled the software and reconnected the unit. It opened just fine
and I set up the software to work when and how I want it to.
I, then, reopened the program and was told “No Maxtor OneTouch found.â€
I unplugged the USB cord and plugged it back in. Still, “No Maxtor OneTouch
found.â€
This morning Vista told me that my Creative LiveCam! has stopped working.
I have an Emachines computer and it’s running XP. I have a back up disc
with it so that I can reload the XP os if I have to. I’ve had to do it a
couple of times.
Even though the XP it’s on a back up disc that I got with my Emachines in
2004, will the XP from the disc load onto my new Gateway? Is the back up
disc encoded so that it won't work on anything but an Emachines?
I would like an answer to the Maxtor recognition problem and to why Vista
loses programs like I. E. – I feel fortunate that it’s lasting long enough
for me to write this - but if Vista continues to lose programs, shut programs
down and not recognize hardware, I definitely want to switch back to XP.
Thanks.
