Hi,
Please help me- I am about to throw my PC out the window and smash it with a
sledge hammer.
I recently did a complete reinstall of WindowsXP. I installed all of the
updates in order up through SP2. Now, whenever I go online using IE6, I can't
see a lot of content. This issue even occurs on msn.com. I get the red x or
"The page cannot be displayed" in several boxes. These are mostly ads and
wouldn't bother me if that was the only thing affected, but it also won't let
me run things like Yahoo IM. I get a Java error in the Yahoo IM.
I have scoured these forums and tried just about every suggestion. I have
read through most of the links. I have downloaded Sun's Java Console. I have
run several of the Java testers (all saying that my browser does not have or
cannot run Java). I have tried to uninstall and reinstall IE6. I have tried
to do it with the regedit following the MS Support instructions. I have
turned all of my security to low to high and back to default. I have turned
all firewalls off, all antivirus and spyware software off. Nothing seems to
help. I am at the end of my rope. I do not want to have to do another
complete reinstall- does anyone have any suggestions.
I know this is not directly related to XP(sp2) because I've used other
machines with similar setups without any problems.
Thanks for any help.
