More info/questions on the 9800 Pro ATI card at Best Buy requested

I now see that Best Buy has the 9800 Pro for $300 after rebates, which would
be ~$85 more than what I paid for the Radeon ATI 9800 np. Looking at the
comparative specs I see a 16.9% gain performance on the Pro Vs the NP.

http://mirror.ati.com/products/radeon9800/radeon9800pro/compare.html

Is 17% a noticeable gain?
$85 is still $85 tho I've got it, I sure don't want to throw away good money
for
a non-noticeable improvement, any comments? Would I see a difference between
the 2?

TIA

Have you tried overclocking the card you have? That's free, and you could
wind up with the same performance or even more. Check the tweaking forum at

You paid $385 for a 9800 non-Pro? When were they ever that expensive?

2 weeks ago I paid $289 - $50 (in-store rebate) - $23.99 (10% P. Customer
discount) = $215

The 9800 Pro is Now on sale for $299 after rebates, or about $85 more than I
paid.
I can still return the 9800 np, but time is running out!

Yahoo!
I Finally purchased the ATI 9800 Pro at Best Buy, it was on sale for $299
after the rebate, plus a free copy of Half Life 2 ($50 value), thus costing
me about $250 because I would had bought HL2 anyway.

So, the card really only cost me about $35 more than the np 9800 after its
all said and done (not including the Best Buy reward points).

I hope you bought it at the store. I finally decided to go with the Best
Buy deal and went down to my local store.
They didn't have any. They called around to two other nearby (15 miles)
and they were also out. They suggested I order it online, so I went home
to do so. When I read the fine print on the rebate form it stated that it
was valid only for in store purchases. Hope they dont screw too many
people with that deal. I'll have to check more store tomorrow.

Hope you enjoy your card.

They are all over the place in Salt Lake City. Just like him, I returned my
9800 and got the Pro and HL2 coupon - the deal is unbelievable!

I'm in Seattle. They told me that someone walked into each of the 3 stores
near to me and ran out with all of there cards. Probably on E-Bay by now.
They didnt know when they would get more although they said they were in
stock at a local warehouse. They would not give me a rain check on the
offer. I ended up paying for the card and can pick it up when they get them
in.

At the store that I was at the cards where on the end of one of the closest
isle's to the door. Who's idea was that ?

Did you get a coupon in the box for the game ? Mine arrived today, looks
like old stock, no coupon.
They did supply a mail in rebate from for the game when available.
