Abuse complaint was sent to Google, but they are unresponsive about spam
and will gladly send you a reply stating that this is the case. Thus, I
have determined who's hosting the website referred to in the spam and
sent a usenet abuse complaint to them as well. Abuse complaint has been
and can be sent to:

Is this at all effective? I never bother, assuming that nobody is going
to care about unwanted newsgroup postings. If it does make a difference,
maybe I should do more?

To date, I've gotten well over 60 spammed websites shut down. Sometimes
it takes the threat of RBH type lists to do it though.

viruses or warez please.

Depends on the ISP and how many complaints. I usually just get a
boilerplate reply, sometimes smaller ISPs will respond that the
spammer has been zapped.

Lurking in a sysadmin group leads me to believe that more is done in
the background and large scale spammers are quickly recognized and
dealt with.

I don't think it hurts to forward complete headers with a brief
complaint.
