More Help

A couple of folks helped me yesterday and I am very grateful. Now I
have another issue. The problem now is that I am merging two
different worksheets that were created by different users. One
entered a block of telephone numbers as simply a string of digits
(8005551212) and the other sheet has the phone number listed with
dashes separating the area code and first three digits
(800-555-1212). The problem comes in when sorting for the numbers.
The first group sorts out and then the second group sorts because of
the dashes. Is there anyway to make all of the data compatable one
way or the other without having to fat finger it all?

Thanks.

If you only have those options then you can select the range with phone
numbers, press ctrl + h or edit>replace,
then replace - with nothing (put a - in the find what box and leave the
replace with box empty), that would make them all numbers and sort
accordingly.
Just make sure you don't have any text or something that can be affected by
the replace.

Hi,

Unless you have a particular reason for leaving then tere why don't you do an
Edit|Replace
and get rid of the dashes. If you do this be careful because it will find
dashes in formula.
