More HELP! - Boot menu

Michelle

Thanks for all your help - but nothing worked.

I can't run the XP setup, it says that I am running a newer version of
windows and it has to quit.
I can't set up the recovery console - same reason.
I can't boot from the windows XP setup disk, it starts by saying "checking
system configuration", but then goes to a blank screen and hangs for ever.

There is nothing untoward in my boot.ini

Is there anything in my registry that tells the system that I am running
Vista, even though I'm not.
Could it be something in the registry that kicks off the boot menu.can I
change a registry key?

I just want it back to normal XP with no boot up screen. And I don't want to
have to reformat and start again - any ideas? Pleeeease...
