More GPO and Assigning software

Here's the newest problem:

When I publish an application in the add/remove programs I have no problems.
However, I want to assign applications to computers not users (or publish in
add/remove). I've tried at the OU level and at the root domain level to no
avail. The software just doesn't install. I know the .msi packages work
because I can install using the add/remove programs after I publish them.

What am I missing.

Once again, thanks.

Did you reboot the computer after assigning the GPO? I could be wrong, but
the computer will only read the GPO during a reboot whereas users read the
GPO whenever they log on.

I rebooted the PC quite a few times.

Gentlemen!

The problem is that you can not publish to the computer configuration. You
may only assign to the computer configuration. Publishing is only available
to the user configuration.

Additionally, you can use the secedit /refresh system_policy ( for the
computer configuration ) or secedit /refresh user_policy ( for the user
configuration ) in place of rebooting / logging off and then back on. This
will typically 'nudge' the most recent changes to become effective. If you
want the entire GPO to be brought back down then you would simply add the
'/enforce' switch to the end of it.

I believe the GPResult is the replacement for secedit when using WINXP.....
